Summer is ending…Get Outdoors PA

It’s Labor Day weekend and that means summer vacations are coming to an end, kids are going back to school, and Fall is around the corner.

While families are gathering for their last big summer bbq and campfires I’m marinating on my Outdoor Fall 2016 bucket list. Yes, you read it right, a bucket list. A bucket list is; a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime.

While a bucket list focuses on achieving something usually big and grand during a lifetime I like to look at the simple little things. So why not a bucket list for a season.

I recently returned from vacation where my wife and I spent several days at the family cabin on Jutland Creek in Maryland. As I sat on the dock sipping coffee, gazing at the water, and jotting some thoughts in my journal, I thought of the coming months. Eventually I realized my thoughts went from my mind to paper where I created an Outdoor Fall Bucket List.

Just because summer is ending does not mean outdoor adventures come to an end. Fall is a great time to get outside and explore the color changes of the northeast. Temperatures are cooler which makes family camping less buggy and campfires more welcoming.

Get out and explore local apple orchards such Ridgetop Orchards  and Boyer Orchards located in Bedford County. Head out for some urban adventure and main street hiking at the Fall Foliage Festival in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Or take in the changing colors while hiking and backpacking the many trails of our State Parks.

Summer may be ending but Fall adventures are beginning. Get outside and explore Pennsylvania.
