About a month ago I contacted my friend Dane “Sherpa” Cramer to ask him to join the HBF Crew. After some thought he decided to decline my invitation and all for good reasons. You see, Dane, while interested in the idea, chose to not overload his schedule. Something I deeply respect and follow myself.
At the time of my invitation I had asked him to become a partner, which he felt he could not commit to fully. I completely understood and respected his decision as being a partner would have required more time than his schedule would allow.
God has been using Dane in areas of his life to impact men with the gospel as well as lead several bible studies each week. In addition, he and his wife operate a small B&B. You can check it out here, Somerset Circa 1800’s. If you’re traveling to the area for some hiking or backpacking on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, we recommend staying a night.
I remember last June when Dane and I backpacked the LHHT. There was a light rain off and on the first day as we made our way from the Rt. 30 trailhead to the Turnpike Shelters where we stayed for the night. During our trip we talked about our personal lives and how God has worked through situations that have impacted us both. We talked about theology and of course backpacking and the outdoors. It was a great time connecting outdoors with another introvert and with someone who shares my interests and passions.
In the time I have gotten to know Dane I have come to respect him for his faith, values and principles as well as his love and passion for the outdoors.
Dane has chosen, like many of us, like me, to follow the trail God has laid out for him. So with that said, prayer and prompting in my heart I have decided to make Dane an “unofficial official” HBF Crew member, following his own trail and sharing his story and journey. His strong faith, passion for the outdoors and contribution from writings only adds to the values and principles of Hike By Faith.
What will be Dane’s role on the team? To continue to follow the trail God has him on, but have the opportunity to share it through Hike By Faith and contribute his stories as he shares them through Featheredprop.com
We are excited to have him as part of the crew and look forward to more adventures outdoors.
