Calvert Cliffs

Calvert Cliffs SP located on the southern peninsula of Maryland was an adventure back in time. A 1.8 mile hike from the parking lot to the cliffs through woods and a beautiful swamp. Wildlife surrounded our hike as frogs, birds, turtles, salamanders, and an occasional snake all took a moment to greet us into their domain. Once the cliffs were reach we were transported back in time. Under many layers of clay and stone hid shells of days of old, fossils and sharks teeth.

An easy hike for the whole family. And kids, bring a bucket, you’ll need it to collect shells, fossils AND sharks teeth. Look carefully and you may find the rare Chesapecten shell.
