Trail Magic & Trail Angels

Trail Angel: a person who delivers trail magic.

Trail Magic: a random act of kindness uniquely provided to long distance hikers (mostly the Appalachian Trail) whereby an individual delivers a good deed to a hiker in need; most commonly in the form of food, beverage, and/or transportation. Trail Magic has a knack of occurring when a hiker’s spirits are approaching the danger zone. Pure serendipity.

This week we launched our “2014 AT Thru-hiker Pray List.” We’ve added two names and the list is growing. In addition to praying for these hikers we’re planning several trips to PA, MD and VA in an effort to provide trail magic to AT hikers as they pass through. We’ll be posting in the near future dates and locations. If you’re a 2014 AT thru-hiker we’d love to hear from you so we can add you to our prayer list as well as arrange to provide you with some trail magic along your journey. Contact us today for more details.

  1. Love, love the idea of trail magic! I would really like to get involved with this. I’ll be hangin around the AT all summer as i travel to Maine to experience the national parks in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Would enjoy contributing to your endeavor.

      1. Sure I will share! I can contribute items, make drops, or whatever you may need. We can stay in contact via email. I can keep you updated about what state I’m in and you can let me know where there is a drop or contact. I don’t really have a definite route planned, just destinations. My husband and I are doing a four day backpack in Great Smoky Mountain National Park at the end of May. And we will be in Shenandoah over Fourth of July Weekend. After that, I’ll be headed solo towards Maine. (by car).

My schedule sounds complicated; but really it’s not. Have you seen my blog, Where is Ruthi? That explains more about my goals. This summer I’ll be driving from Georgia to Maine, experiencing the national parks, and would love to become involved in an AT ministry.

      2. Contact me via Yes, I’ve read your blog. As we make contact with hikers I can contact you and make arrangements for drops. Our goal is to make drops personal and face to face with hikers and pray WITH them before they continue on. I look forward to hearing from you.
