Think Positive and Unfriend the Negative

“Think positive and remove the negatives.”

Yesterday I wrote a post titled; “Blaze Markers to Happiness.” The quote above is point two in my list of personal blaze markers.

imagesNot all negatives come from within ourselves. However, I know for me if I’m not careful I can be my own worst enemy when it comes to negative thinking. But what about outside negative influence? This morning as I took five minutes to read through my Facebook news feed I realized something. My news feed can be negative but also ridiculous at times. Let me explain.

Yesterday I read a very encouraging status from a friend. It was positive and upbeat. Then this morning the very thing they were upbeat about quickly turned into something negative. Ok, I’m lost. Here is where it gets ridiculous for me. I read what people post as they fill their page with positive quotes, pics and one liners, but do they actually believe what they are posting? I find it hard to believe they do when it’s followed up with whoah-is-me posts.

Thinking and living positively means just that, and just because you post something positive does not mean it will happen. A Facebook status is not a magic spell that will conjure up positive thinking just because you stated it for the world to see. Positive thinking should lead to positive living. If we continue to think negative, then we truly haven’t taken the steps to think positive. We can post, quote or even rant to others all we want about positive thinking, but just like the Word of God we need to do more then just talk about it, we need to live it.

Thinking and living a positive life means a renewing of our mind, changing the way we think. It means removing anything that causes us to think negative. If social media is a negative influence, get rid of it. If a person is a negative influence, remove them from your life. I know a lot of people on social media who spend more time posting negative things about their life then they do positive. And what’s heart breaking are many of these are brother’s and sister’s in Christ who also claim the name of Jesus. I’m not saying none of us don’t face discouraging moments in life. I have and am facing some really tough trials in my life. I just choose to face them with a positive outlook knowing my joy comes from Jesus, not from anything in this world.

Romans 12:2 – Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

If we claim on social media or anywhere else that Jesus is our everything then how can we allow negative influence to dictate our day and attitude? Because of Jesus I know the outcome. I know the ending of the story. I know where my hike through life will bring me and I look forward to the destination. But I also know I’m free now and that He has called me to live a full life NOW.

We have the greatest gift of positive thinking available to us 24/7. Easy access that does not require a login or password. We have a direct connection who’s service is never interrupted and who’s bandwidth never bogs down. So seek Him out and ask Him to change the way you think and begin thinking and living a positive life even through discouraging moments. And remove any negative thinking or influence. It’s time to unfriend the negative thinking.

  1. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the easiest
thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people
think about worries that they plainly do not know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the
whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
