Do you worry? Of course you do, we all do. Some worry more then others. Maybe you’re like me, a classic worrier. I’ve struggled with it all my life but it’s something God is really working on as He’s brought it to my attention several time this past week.
While standing on a trail overlooking a lake my mind was running through a list of worries when suddenly I hear God say; “Brian, you worry too much and are trusting me less.” Ouch! That one didn’t just sting, His words cut deep and He is right.
We worry because we don’t take God at His Word. When we worry we get our focus off of God and onto ourselves and circumstances and like Martha in Luke 10, we are missing the “one thing”…Jesus. The peace of Christ guards us from turmoil, worry, distress and fear. There is no counselor or therapy that can produce this. We can have peace WITH God.
Isaiah 26:3 says; “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You”
Worried about something? I have learned to find my peace with Him on the trail away from distractions and when my mind is stayed (focused) on Jesus.
So whether its a city park, state park or a mountain top, get outside and take a hike and let Him give you His perfect peace. Put your thoughts on Him.
The answer to worry is at the cross.
We do not have to be defined by the things that we suffer or worry about.
